Key Canadian film and TV unions and guilds have joined forces to form the Film & Television Alliance for Industry Responsibility (FAIR). This coalition, including ACTRA, DGC, IATSE, and others, aims to promote responsible use of taxpayer funds and advocate for producers to comply with collective agreements.

FAIR is calling on Telefilm Canada to adopt a policy similar to the Canada Media Fund, requiring producers to maintain good standing with unions and guilds for funding eligibility. The alliance highlights gaps in industry compliance, with many productions failing to engage with all relevant unions.

At Telefilm’s Annual Public Assembly, FAIR urged stronger accountability measures. Telefilm President Julie Roy affirmed the agency’s commitment to integrity and ongoing discussions with unions to develop sustainable solutions.
